cPanel accounts can be backed up using the cPanel > Backup interface using the Download a Full Account Backup button under the Full Backup heading.
A full backup creates an archive of all of your website’s files and configuration. You can use this file to move your account to another server or to keep a local copy of your files.
A full backup file is a tar.gz archive that includes contents of your home, /home or /home/[user] directory, databases, email forwarders, and filters.
Full backups cannot be used to restore your website through the cPanel interface so you must contact our system administrators for assistance*.
To work with any files from your full backup, you must decompress the backup.
Tip: The backup process for an account near or over its allocated disk quota may fail because the system cannot write necessary files, such as a database lock file.
* Submit a Request (top menu) and share the path to your full backup (account restoration is billable).
